Poet and playwright Jumaniyoz Jabborov was born in 1930 in Poloti village, Koson district, Qashqadaryo region.

After finishing secondary school, he studied at the Central Asian State University. In 1952-1953, he attended the Higher Literature Courses in Moscow.

Following this, he worked as a department head and later as an executive secretary at Sharq Yulduzi magazine, was an editor at Gulxan magazine from 1962 to 1964, and served as a department head and deputy editor-in-chief at the newspaper Sovet O‘zbekistoni (now O‘zbekiston Ovozi) from 1964 to 1976.

From 1981 to 1985, he served as director at the Gafur Gulam Literature and Art Publishing House, from 1985 to 1990 as a consultant at the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan, and from 1990 to the present, he has served as executive secretary of the State Prizes Committee of Uzbekistan.

Jumaniyoz Jabborov's literary career began in the 1950s. To date, he has created over thirty poetry and prose collections and dozens of poems and plays. As a children's poet, he has published collections such as Tog‘dagi Uchrashuv (1986) and Guljahon va Hasanjon (1988).

Career

The poet's first poetry collection was published in 1953 titled Vatanimni Kuylayman. Subsequently, his collections of poems and long poems such as Bahor Nafasi (1956), Gulshan (1957), Maqsad Yo‘lida (1958), Tog‘lar Sadosi (1961), Ona Yer Qo‘shig‘i (1962), Subhidam Xayollari (1964), She’rlar (1966), Sahro Sanami (1967), Yo‘ldagi O‘ylar (1968), Qishloqdagi Haykal (1970), Lirika (1970), Ilhom Daqiqalari (1971), E’tiqod (1978), Muhabbat Naqqoshi (1980), the two-volume Saylanma (1980-1981), Dostonlar (1974), Quyosh Yurti (1983), Xayolimda O‘zing (1985), and Ko‘nglim Go‘zali (1991), as well as prose works such as 20 Kun Daftari (1967) and Sohillar Hikoyasi (1974), were published. J. Jabborov is not only a talented poet but also a prolific playwright. His plays, such as O‘jarlar (1971), Yillar O‘tib (1975), To‘ydan Oldin Tomosha (1979), and Mening Oppoq Kabutarlarim, have been staged in Tashkent, in various regional theaters, and in the republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. In recent years, the poet's selection titled Ajab Dunyo, Sevgi Dunyo was published. He also created musical dramas based on Firdavsi's Shahnameh and A. Qodiriy's novel O‘tgan Kunlar.

As a translator, Jumaniyoz Jabborov translated works by Lermontov, Byron, and Firdavsi into his mother tongue.

For his services to literature and the people, poet and playwright Jumaniyoz Jabborov was awarded the title of "Honored Art Worker of Uzbekistan" in 1980.

During the independence era, he was awarded the title of "People's Poet of Uzbekistan" and the "Shuhrat" medal.
